YSL ROUGE PUR COUTURE GLOSSY STAIN REVIEW

Qn: If you can only own 1 lip product for the rest of your life, what would you pick?

Me:

Hellooooo everybody and welcome back to my blog!

I hope the photo shows just how much I adore YSL Rouge Pur Glossy Stain, which I’ll be reviewing today.

“A revolutionary new lip product! Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Glossy Stain combines the texture and shine of a gloss with the long-wear of a stain for a truly innovative lip product. A lightweight texture that immediately melts onto lips. Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Glossy Stain delivers intense glossy colour for an extremely long lasting new kind of shine. The applicator’s unique slanted tip and short soft bristles allow for flawless application with perfect precision”

1 dip into the bottle

I left them for about 5 minutes before wiping with tissue. Pretty good staining power for something meant to be glossy I’d say.

Retails for SGD$55 each.

I actually have one more shade in #7, but it went MIA when I was doing the review and decided to appear only when I was editing this post :’D Soo I think I’m not going to include it. #7 is quite similar to #207, they both have that corally orangey undertone.

All three actually look pretty similar. Just very slight difference in undertones.

Packaging

Plastic bottle with YSL’s logo and signature gold cap. Very lightweight and looks suuper classy.

Application, Texture, Finish and Staying power

Application is smooth and very easy. 1 dip is enough to thinly coat my lips (I usually always do 2 dips). It feels tacky when product is freshly applied but after a while, the tackiness goes away. As for opacity, the darker the shade the more opaque it will be. I don’t own any dark colors, but if you google them, you will see that the darker colors are actually very opaque. This product really sticks to my lips and have good staining and staying power. I have a habit of biting my lips or just licking them, so most lip products don’t really stay on me. But these products are staining enough to get me through that. Oh and light meals as well.

Verdict: 9/10

If babies could come in bottles, these would probably be it. They are just the most precious little things to me. If you’re looking for a lip product that is between creamy and glossy, I think these YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain are perfect. I always have those days where I feel like the texture of a lipstick is too creamy, but a gloss, way too glossy (no shhh sherlock). On those days, I would resort to these YSL babies because they provide good coverage and yet they feel suuper lightweight. I also have extremely sensitive lips and these glosses don’t cause them to peel, chap or look disgusting or anything.

Let’s check what YSL claims these would do:

✓    Texture and shine of a gloss

✓    Long wear of a stain

✓    Lightweight texture, melts onto lips

✓    Intense glossy color (depends on shade. Darker shades =  more intense)

✓     Long lasting shine

✓     Flawless, perfect precision

I think there’s only 1 downside to this product, its price tag. These products are HELLA expensive and it breaks my heart AND my bank account just thinking about getting a new shade.

Would I ever re-purchase: YES. I’m planning to slowly (painfully) expand my collection!
